The Plaza at Riverside Quarter is one of the most exciting home developments to come to Aberdeen in recent years. To celebrate the new development, John Lewis Aberdeen has collaborated with Stewart Milne Homes to create a stylish Look Book, designed especially for homes at The Plaza.

The Look Book focuses on four bespoke looks tailored to different home-buyers and budgets, created by the John Lewis Aberdeen Home Design Team, led by Heather Clark. The inspirational style guides feature a range of furniture, soft furnishings and accessories to bring to life what a home at The Plaza could look like.

Situated adjacent to the former site of the historic Davidson’s Mill, The Plaza is a range of one and two bedroom apartments available in 15 different designs to choose from. The classic yet contemporary exteriors of the apartments complement their beautiful surroundings and, inside, the expert team at Stewart Milne Homes has paid the utmost attention to detail, with high specification design throughout.

From Heather Clark, Home Design Advisor at John Lewis Aberdeen:

Buying a home is such an exciting time, and the real fun is in bringing it to life with your own style. We’ve created a new Look Book for you to take inspiration from when making your house a home.
Your perfect first home:
Buying your first home is an unforgettable experience but it can be challenging to furnish your space on a limited budget; the key here is to focus on essentials and quality, as well as long lasting, space saving furniture. The HOUSE range by John Lewis features everyday items with a clean, uncluttered look, perfect for maximising your new space, and giving it a stylish, modern look. Soft furnishings in neutral shades are a great starting point, and can be livened up with lots of autumnal tones using cushions, rugs and hanging pictures.
The Hayes dark grey sofa has wide arms and a subtle piping detail, while plain red and colourful patterned cushions accent the sofa. The living room furniture has a simple natural wood finish, creating a timeless, versatile space.

All loved up:

Sharing with a partner takes a lot of consideration, as both halves compromise on space and, often, on taste. As John Lewis’s selection shows, this compromise doesn’t need to stretch to style. By making decisions together and planning colour palettes and design ideas in advance, this needn’t be a problem.
The Samara furniture range is universally popular, with clean lines giving a rich, solid look, while providing cleverly designed storage solutions for a tidy living space. If you’re not sure on colour palette opt for neutral earthy tones and brighten your room up with splashes of colourful accessories and soft furnishings. Buttery yellows and soft off whites create a calming atmosphere, where you can both relax in peace and tranquillity.

His:

Clean, modern lines can help evoke a masculine look in your apartment. Sturdy wooden furniture adds a touch of warmth to an uncluttered, stylish living space.
The Portia sofa and armchair is finished in a rich dark chocolate hide, bringing a timeless elegance to any lounge. Eye-catching cylinder ceiling shades are easy to fit, and give a retro finish to the room.

Hers:

Some of the most feminine shades for this season are warm purples and light blues which can lend a softer ambiance to your apartment.
First impressions are made in the hallway, and a stand-out light is a great way to make an impact. In the lounge, balance a glass coffee table with cushions in a range of soft, luxurious fabrics and warm colours. The dining area is the heart of any home, and the minimalist glass topped round table makes a standout centre piece for a smaller living space. Light oak furniture keeps the bedroom bright and airy.

Finishing Touches:

For those essential finishing touches to any home, look no further than John Lewis Aberdeen’s extensive range of homeware. The wide selection of kitchenware provides stylish solutions that will transform your new apartment into a home. The kitchen is the heart of the home and, whether you’re planning cosy nights in or vibrant dinner parties, a good set of knives is a must for cooking up a storm. A stylish crockery set will make you and your guests feel at home no matter what the occasion. And, of course, you’ll want to toast the purchase of your new home, so don’t forget the wine glasses!

A beautiful living space can make such a huge difference to your lifestyle, so we’re here to make your dream home a reality.  Whether it’s stamping your personality on an exciting first purchase, creating a statement living space or a cosy love nest, you’ll find what you’re looking for at The Plaza at Riverside Quarter and the team at John Lewis Aberdeen is on hand to help.
